Last.fm Boffin: The Real Music Genius
iTunes is my Music Player of choice. With the Last.fm Player in combination I have a pretty nice package to listen to Music and Manage my 10,000 mp3 library.
But more and more often I just don’t know what to listen to….seems ridiculous with that much music, and a last.fm account that knows me pretty well (40513 plays since 14 Jun 2005).
The Genius feature of iTunes helped me out, at least a little bit. But “Listen to Similar Tracks” is a thing Last.fm knows much better, for much longer time. Problem is: only for online fellows. Now there is a tool that uses Last.fm’s collective intelligence on your local music library: Last.fm Boffin
Boffin scans your local music library and asks for tags (aka. genres) of every track in your library on last.fm. after that you just select (one or more) tags and press play.
Awesome!
